Visions take shape

The STUDENT DESIGN AWARD for Rapid Manufacturing is the opportunity for all creative designers to gain recognition with realisable ideas. The focus lies upon exploring the possibilities of generative production processes. Those who recognise new potential here will also be able to benefit from important practical contacts for their professional future.

The prize-winning contributions for 2010 include the reinterpretation of a timer, an interactive game design, a swimming goggles with an integrated MP3 player, a customizable Ski helmet and a device for producing frothed milk. All prize-winning student work will be produced in cooperation with the well known companies Objet Geometries Ltd., CP – Centrum für Prototypenbau GmbH, 3D Schilling GmbH, EOS GmbH and 3D Systems GmbH.

In May 2011, the award - initiated by the Thuringian Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research (STIFT) and Messe Erfurt – will already be in its fifth edition.
