Visions take shape
The Student Design Award for Rapid Manufacturing is the opportunity for all creative designers to gain recognition with realisable ideas. The focus lies upon exploring the possibilities of generative production processes. Those who recognise new potential here will also be able to benefit from important practical contacts for their professional future.
The prize-winning contributions for 2009 include the reinterpretation of a musical wind instrument, climbing shoes, interactive game design and a drinking cup in functional contexts. All prize-winning student work will be produced in cooperation with the well known companies Objet Geometries Ltd., CP – Centrum für Prototypenbau GmbH, RTC Rapid Technology Center Duisburg, 3D Schilling GmbH, EOS GmbH and 3D Systems GmbH.
In May 2010, the award - initiated by the Thuringian Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research (STIFT) and Messe Erfurt – will already be in its fourth edition. The panel will also include design pope Christopher E. Bangle, who will be carrying out the judging together with renowned experts from the world of generative production.
